One of the best parts of living on the Central Oregon Coast is the supportive and generous nature of the community. An organization with which my family is closely aligned is My Sister’s Place which provides support services and education to help with the intervention and prevention of domestic violence, sexual assault, and dating abuse. One of their latest initiatives is the development of a pet kennel to house the animals of domestic violence victims at their shelter.
In order to fund the construction of the kennel, volunteers have organized a fundraiser — the first of what they hope to be an annual event — called a Summer Soiree. Hosted at Salishan Spa and Golf Resort in Gleneden Beach, the evening will feature silent and live auctions, raffles, dinner and wine. This year’s theme of “Wine and Fleas” promises an event full of fun, humor and community.
If you are interested in buying tickets or volunteering for the event, please call (541) 574-9424.
