One sure sign of spring here on the Central Oregon Coast is the arrival of Rufous Hummingbirds. These bright, shiny red hummers are back in full force looking for nests and defending their territories from the Annas who live here full time. Another returning resident is the Flicker who has decided that being a ground feeder has it’s drawbacks so along with the Rufous Towhees they have taken to feeding at the suspended black oil sunflower seed feeders I put up for the perching birds.   Excellent entertainment all the while affirming that much in our world is just fine.
