Each year in the Spring and the Fall, volunteers form up in teams on the beaches from Astoria to the California border under the leadership of SOLV to help keep our beaches in pristine condition for residents and visitors alike. This effort which began in 1984 has expanded to a statewide effort and has helped make Oregon a great place to live. One of my favorite photos from previous cleanups was taken in 2006 by Jan Privratsky. She captured a rather unique image of the Cascade Packgoat Club participating in the Fall Beach Cleanup from Moolack Beach to Beverly Beach.
The Spring clean up was held March 28. The Fall cleanup is scheduled for September 19, 2009 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Here’s a list of the 40 Oregon beach cleanup zones. You can also sign up to get the latest SOLV updates here. And while you’re in the neighborhood lending a hand, take time to check out some significant buys here on the Central Oregon Coast. E-mail or give me a call to set up a time to meet.
